Doctoral Program – Department of Geomatics Engineering, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Ondokuz Mayıs University
A joint doctoral program with Karadeniz Technical University was initiated in the 2011–2012 academic year. Following the decision of the YÖK Executive Board dated 01.02.2017, and the fulfillment of faculty requirements, Ondokuz Mayıs University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences established the Doctoral Program in Geomatics Engineering.
The purpose of the Doctoral Program is to develop advanced knowledge and skills in the field of Geomatics Engineering, enhance expertise in concepts, principles, and methods of the discipline, and train graduates capable of conducting original and internationally normative academic and scientific research that meets contemporary standards.
Program Learning Outcomes (Doctoral):
LO1: Follow scientific literature and be proficient in the literature of the field.
LO2: Solve problems encountered in the field of Geomatics Engineering using research methods.
LO3: Produce innovative scientific solutions by applying theoretical and practical knowledge at an advanced level in Geomatics Engineering.
LO4: Demonstrate leadership in environments requiring resolution of problems in Geomatics Engineering.
LO5: Integrate knowledge from Geomatics Engineering with information from other disciplines and generate new insights.
LO6: Use computer software, information, and communication technologies at an advanced level, as required by the field of Geomatics Engineering.
LO7: Supervise and teach the collection, interpretation, application, and dissemination of Geomatics Engineering data while respecting societal, scientific, cultural, and ethical values.
LO8: Demonstrate professional responsibility in accordance with ethical principles.
The students who have successfully completed a minimum of 24 local credits (equivalent to 60 ECTS credits) from thought courses delivered within the graduate program of the department and in related fields, defended her/his written thesis to the examining jury. This jury having evaluated written thesis and candidate defense arrive at the final decision. Students who successfully defended a thesis to an examining jury are given Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) in Geomatics Engineering.
